How Can You Install XenServer 7.1?

To do this:

1. Download the software from the website and create a bootable CD using the ISO file.

2. Insert the CD in the system on which you want to install the software and boot it using the CD.

3. Choose a keyboard layout of your choice on the “welcome to XenServer” screen.

4. You might see a message on your screen to install essential drivers on your system. If you see that message, then hit F9 and follow on-screen instructions to install the software.

5. After that hit “OK” to continue.

6. Carefully go through the End User license agreement and hit “Accept” to continue.

7. Select the “Perform clean Installation” option and hit “OK.”

8. Choose the disk that you want to use as the primary disk and hit “OK.”

9. Select the disk you wish to use as virtual machine storage and hit “OK.”

10. Choose “Local media” as an installation media source and then hit “OK.”

11. Select and install the supplemental packs from the CD or your hardware supplier and hit “OK.”

12. If you want to verify the integrity of the software, then choose “verify installation source” and hit “OK.”

13. Now set up and confirm the root password. You will require this password to connect to the host using the XenCenter app and for logging into the xsconsole/system configuration console.

14. After that setup, your primary management interfaces and hit “OK.”

15. Select the “Automatic Configuration (DHCP)” option to configure the management NIC IP address.

16. Specify hostname/DNS configuration by selecting the “Automatically set via DHCP” option and then hit “OK” to continue.

17. Now set your time zone and city and then hit “OK.”

18. Select the “Using NTP” option to determine local time and hit “OK.”

19. Now select “NTP is configured by my DHCP server” to set the time server and then hit “OK.”

20. Hit the “Install XenServer” option and follow on-screen instructions to continue.

21. Now to install supplemental packs eject your installation and then insert the CD that contains the supplemental pack. After that hit “OK.”

22. Repeat the above step to install all your supplemental packs.

23. Once the installation is complete tap on the “Eject the installation CD” option and hit “OK” to reboot your server.

24. Now XenServer will display xsconsole and system configuration console on the screen. To navigate to the local shell from xsconsole hit the “Alt” and “F3” keys together. To return back to xsconsole hit the “Alt” and “F1” keys together.

Note: Don’t forget to note down the IP address shown by the XenServer. You will need it to connect the XenCenter app to the host (XenServer host).
